Audition for Hacha Y Machete Dance Company

 

For the first time in years we are auditioning for spots on our elite dance company!

We are proud to offer this opportunity for others to join our team and maintain our prestigious reputation.  This call is open to all dancers with any background. 


HYM, which has helped build the foundation of Boston's Salsa scene performs on a regular basis.  Not limited to just Salsa, HYM has been lauded for their innovative choreographies incorporating numerous dance styles including modern, hip-hop, and tango. 


              













Below is some basic info about the auditions:


What: This will be a challenging and exciting day in which you will be asked to learn and execute various dance choreographies in front of our panel. 

When: 5-7pm, August 17th, 2008

Where: Shawn Terenzi Academy of Dance

FAQs:

1. What do I need to bring?

Comfortable clothing, dance shoes, jazz shoes, a bottle of water, and a great attitude!

2. What if I don’t have dance or jazz shoes?

No worries, just bring a pair of sneakers/shoes that you feel most comfortable dancing in.

3. When will I find out if I made it?

Candidates will be notified one week following auditions.

4. When are rehearsals?

Rehearsals are held twice a week: One weeknight (either Tuesday or Wednesday) and Sunday evenings. 

5. Will auditions end on time?

Auditions may go slightly longer than 5-7pm depending on how many people attend.

6. I have never danced a step of salsa.  Will I still have a chance?

Absolutely! You just need to demonstrate an ability to learn choreography quickly and then perform it in front of our panel.

7. I really want to audition but I have work/school/another commitment the day of auditions.  Is there anyway to still be considered?

Most likely no.  We are trying to give everyone a fair chance.  This is the first example of commitment to the dance company if its a goal one really wants. 

8. What happens if I audition and don't make it?

You will still have an opportunity to be in one of our training groups.
